Helium / Balloon Gas
Helium is necessary if you want your balloons to float. Cylinders of balloon gas come in four sizes. Use the chart below to determine the size of the cylinder you need. It shows the average number of balloons that can be expected from each size cylinder when the balloon are fully inflated to the sizes shown if no gas is wasted. Balloon gas is a safe, non-flammable, non-poisonous gas, which is lighter than air. It can be used safely either indoors or outdoors.
n.b. The average float time for 10" latex balloons when inflated with helium is 10 hours and for 12" balloons 12-18 hours. This float time does depend on the use of the balloons and the attachments used. If using Prolite self sealing valves the float time will be reduced by approximately 6 hours.
